A documentary project highlights women who are reshaping traditional maritime practices in Venice. While the lagoon city is often perceived as unchanging, these women are actively entering crafts historically dominated by men. Their activities include constructing traditional boats as master carpenters, teaching lagoon navigation, piloting motorboats, and taking part in competitive regattas while campaigning for equal recognition. Among those featured are female gondoliers, the city's sole female sandolo rower, and a twenty-eight-year-old gondolier named Beatrice, who has spent a year operating a public ferry gondola that transports passengers across the Grand Canal. Through these roles, local women are driving a gradual shift within Venice's maritime heritage.
