A growing number of Russian citizens are attempting to leave the country as the ongoing State Duma elections conclude. According to the anti-war group Ark, requests for emigration assistance have increased eightfold since July. Many individuals fear that the Kremlin will initiate a new military draft once the voting period ends, a move that authorities have repeatedly denied. Despite official assurances, the introduction of an electronic summons system and reports of exit bans at border crossings have heightened public anxiety. Citizens are primarily relocating to visa-free nations such as Armenia, Georgia, and Kazakhstan. While the current exodus is perceived to be smaller than the mass departure observed in 2022, the trend reflects widespread concern regarding potential troop reinforcements for the conflict in Ukraine. Independent analysts note that search queries related to leaving Russia have reached their highest levels since early 2023.
