Hungarian Prime Minister Péter Magyar has responded to threats of litigation from billionaire Lőrinc Mészáros following the government's decision to cancel a long-term motorway concession agreement. The business entity associated with Mészáros indicated it might seek legal recourse after Budapest initiated the process to dissolve the 35-year contract. This deal, which involves significant infrastructure management, carries an estimated lifetime value surpassing 23 trillion Hungarian forints, equivalent to roughly 64 billion euros. The confrontation highlights escalating tensions regarding state infrastructure projects and the potential financial consequences of reversing large-scale public-private partnerships. The government remains firm in its intent to end the arrangement despite the looming prospect of a protracted legal battle over the multi-billion euro project.
